I am back at syracuse for the year and let me tell you I am not all pleased. Despite having a longer summer, day wise, this summer went by much too fast. I think this is because of one thing....work. Now do'nt get me wrong, I am all for work, but this job killed me. I longed for the comfort of Obadiah's: night hours, the pay, the people, the food, the drinks, and night hours...or did I say that already? This summer I followed my "profession to be" to Chip Webster and Associates a small firm on the beautiful isle of Nantucket where, as many of you know, I spend my summers. While an employee there I learned how a professional office functions, the Sweet's catalog system, that AutoCad- though "poweful"- is the worst application I have ever used, I also learned that the HDC is always right, that plotting and printing is the bottle-neck of all things architecture, and that running an NT server is more trouble than it was worth. The damn thing drove every one in the office crazy, seeing as it was constantly having trouble with something, like sending us our email or allowing anyone to print. Infact they had to hire an extra person just to run the damn thing....which prompted me to make this... The job was'nt a bad one, in fact everyone was very nice to me and did'nt give me much grief for being a space cadet every morning after a night of the usual, casual, raging. So thanx guys for a learning expirience.
any-hoo. This summer I got to the beach less than ever before..try maybe 10 days...and I live on the beach for christ sakes...here's a list of the good and bad of the summer
the Highlights include. going to the beach, surfing, skimboarding (we saw that dude that filmed andy and I too- he has a surfing clinic that he runs off of Cisco beach- but like fucking idiots we didnt say anything about getting our mitts on the tape), Oswego, visiting friends, Cisco night at the muse, tripping w/o falling, casa de Earl and Colin, partying at my dad's house, fishing in Alaska, Weldy, his fox, and its MiniDisk player, some kid named Noah, FIFA 99, four-wheeling in the Puegot at some rave that never happened with three random irsh chicks in the car and andy in the trunk at 3 A.M....there's got to be more...i mean i was in nantucket...
Negativos include, getting my longboard yanked at Oswego (thanx chen :-), lack of days or hours for that matter spent with my feet in the sand or head in the water, inabitlity to do anything resembling last summer's nights except on friday and saturday, working for waaay more hours and making waaaay less money than last year...dont ask me how that works, Having my Jaz drive wig out on me, paying 189 bucks for a new one, and still losing all the data on my Installer's cartridge, Not having the Rover all summer due to Caitlin Chabot ramming my sister on boston post rd. on the 12 of june, having getting up at 8 every day, Not going wakeboarding once, Olivia...man.., getting yelled at by my dad via his caretaker/ irrate nieghbor after partying at his house, also My dog Mutley passed away...he was a good little guy.
So this summer sucked worse than last summer but i guess it's better than rotting in amherst. Now I am at school, back online, I have d/l'ed about 50% of my installers, Busby and I built lofts and stuck our desks under them...then we bought a couch and put two fridges on each side...our room is pretty sick for a shitty open double, classes are cool, studio has indeed begun and coincidently I have become a child of the night. Thats it for now...pray stinky gets some play this weekend..and does anboy one notice how many hits this site has had?...its approaching phenomenon status. peace out yo
