Things have been pretty busy around here. I have learned some new things too. For Instance: to print in Adobe InDesign you need a goddamn Poscript Level 2 printer...gues I am going back to Quark, but my version of Quark got all fucked up and I have yet to find an acceptable new version. I think I am going to just have to snag one the disks from school and create an image file...that's getting into this whole software thing a little more than I anticipated.
Basically I have spent much of my computer time d/l'ing MP3's. In my search I have come across a file type called VQF. VQF is a new file format that sounds superior to MP3 compressed files in a smaller footprint (typically 30%). This means it requires more CPU power though and may skip occasionally under hard CPU usage. Frankly I am not endorsing it at the moment since they seem to have forgotten about the real computer users out there. You know who you are. So anyhow I have also done other things.
Like party. I went to my roomates home town of Lancaster PA the third weekend that I was here. While there we went to St. Joeseph's and partied at some house. That was cool. I almost got killed walking down the street by some thugs...or at least the potential was there.
Last weekend I went to see the matrix, which was put on by the UU (university union). So far their track record for not fucking up the film is all fuck ups: no smooth presentations. We left in the middle becuase the reel started going backwards and the sound kept playing....it kind of reminded me of japanese animation, or a dubbed jackie chan movie. Any how it was a good thing this happened becuase it assured that we (brian and I) could get even drunker and not miss the begining of the Pink Floyd Laser Light show that we had tickets in our wallets for. The deal was that they were going to sync dark side with The Wizard of OZ and then have a "laser spectacular." I have to admit I was a bit skeptical at first. But I my apprehensions began to vanish when Brian handed me a pair of x-ray goggles as we sat down. A bunch of people that we knew were there- by design- so we had a great group. Brian was, in a word, wasted, having downed 10 beers in about an hours time (6 in about 15 minutes and 4 in about 3 mintues after the 1/2 showing of the matrix). I was elegantly drunk and forming coherent thoughts and phrases, or so I believed. Anyhow the whole thing was pretty sick and very profesionaly done. The sync'ing was perfect and at times the dialouge from the voices would come in a strategic fashion. After Dark Side was done they played various Floyd songs from The Wall. The lasers started going nuts....and coincidently so did one of the girls behind me who kept standing up and yelling "bring the lasers out to me!"....and stangely enough some one did. Besides the lasers, they had images on the screen from The Wall, both in animation and in live motion pictures. It was pretty cool.
Last sat we went to crow (alpha chi rho)-ithink) and had a pre-game bonanza. It was pretty sweet, they had rented a hot tub and had a keg of Killian's and a keg of beast. There were a bunch of alumni there too, including a guy nick named Olaf, who, in fashion, was completely wasted and the size of a Mac truck. He was a master at Beruit though and made about 7 consectuvie shots (one more than Busby at St. Joe's). The game, in two words, sucked dick. We lost and it was possibly the most boring game that I have even seen. Also that weekend we had monday off (gotta love those Jewish holiday's) but I forget what we did on Sunday night. On Monday we went to Green Lake and had a picnic.
Ok finally this weekend:
busby, brian, eckel, and I went to see G-love and the Special Sauce at Cornell. First let me tell you a bit about eckel. He plays a mean bluesy guitar. One night we got all hammered and he jammed while brian and busby busted out freestyle for an hour and forty minutes straight. It was nuts. So anyway we got some KB's, got in Busby's car and drove on up to Ithaca. On the way up I had to pee like I naver have before, Busby refused to pull the car over though. I finally convinced him whith the fact that there was no way I could go in the back of a Sunfire, into a coke bottle, and not get it all over the car. We pulled over and a skunk scurried into the woods...I took 45 seconds to steal a mirror as Kilgore Trout would say. The concert was cool, G-Love freestyled alot which was cool and he had some funky bluesy sols's..the band does'nt really jam. They mostly have little solo's in thier songs. It was cool any how. After the show we smoked alot more and hit up a little phenomenon known as Wendy's Late Night. Then I went to bed...it was fun. Now I have to go get dowels for my tensegrity structure sculpture, which is going to be a pain in the ass. PS I just got a Conhead Buddha CD and they are great.
also mom could you bring the following items when you come on up to visit. a pillow, my lacrosse equipment, both sticks ( the raptor-mesh, and the excalibur-trad.), some hangers...and thats all i can think of for now...also drive the range rover so I can check it out...if its not done do'nt bother. thanx
